One month on

In my last blog post I spoke about my excitement of the coming ‘Rebel, Rebel.’ event. Since that post we (Laura, Lucia and I) have put on our first club night and almost finished planning the next instalment of our little project. The night itself was a huge success, though obviously as with any event the trepidation and paranoia that no one would turn up was pretty huge. Fortunately our fears were very much proved wrong as we saw over 100 people come through the doors of the Buyers Club to see bands that WE put on at OUR event. The relief come the end of the night was colossal and now the frantic planning and excitement of our next date (7th of December at 24 Kitchen Street, we strongly suggest you come down) is well underway.

Since ‘Rebel, Rebels.’s debut evening the three of us have had many meetings discussing ideas and organisation of the next event. I’ve got to say it was all very very ‘grown up’ as I was sat discussing a project that the three of us ran totally independent of anyone else, really made me realise how far I’d come and the professionalism that even since September I seem to have gained. Anyway, from these meetings we decided on a new lineup which we’ve managed to book, we’ve had a logo designed, started all our social media platforms and even began planning ahead to the huge show that we’ve got in store for February.

The whole concept of having your own event creates a sense of pride that I’ve not had in a long time because it’s very hard to come by. Through the process of doing this event alone I can tell that I’ve learnt new skills; I’ve had to begin contacting venues and people with real life (!!!) jobs and careers to try and convince them of and sell them our idea, I’ve had to negotiate and think strategically about marketing and how to reach my audiences. All in the name of fun.
