Finally confirmed the date of our IPP event after months of pushing to start work on it. We’ve settled for the 10th of May. Although this is during one of the busiest uni weeks on the calendar we decided that this would be okay as it’s a deliberately very small venue. We’ve chosen Maguire’s Pizza Bar as our venue as it’s a well renowned venue with amongst live music fans in Liverpool and has a good reputation for their repertoire of past performances. In addition to this it’s a relatively small venue with a capacity of 90. This works on our side as it means that even if few people turn up it’ll feel fuller than another venue such as Kitchen Street.

Just had word from two of the bands that I’ve contacted to play the event and they’ve both confirmed! Which is fantastic and now we have 2/3 of our lineup which is easing my mind slightly. So far we’ve got Cosmo Calling and Hey Lama (all members of which are LIPA music students) both of which have confirmed with me, then Laura is chasing up Nolan Garret and we’re brainstorming whether or not we want to have a fourth band or not.

In terms of how we want to make the event different from just a club night I’ve contacted a friend of mine called Rachel Jones who is on the TPDT course to help us come up with a cheap and easy way to decorate the space in a super casual vaguely festival themed aesthetic. She’s currently brainstorming cheap and easy ways to do this and I gotta say I’m SUPER excited to see what she comes up with.

Aside from all the IPP stuff Laura and I have been asked by Cave Party to put on an event for their EP launch. Their words were ‘we love the way you run Rebel Rebel and would be great to work with you’, of course this is lovely and so we had a meeting with them a couple days ago and have decided which  bands we’re going to contact, what roundabout date we’re going to have it on (4th or 11th may) and that we’re going to hold it at 24 Kitchen Street. Because I have such a positive relationship with Kitchen Streets owner Ioan I have already contacted him and he’s given us some great deals on venue pricing which is great. Really looking forward to this event.
