Essential Information…

My first couple of weeks at LIPA have been a very positive learning curve. The chance to finally get out of the very limiting town of Doncaster was one I snatched up willingly and will never look back on. Coming to a new city has it’s challenges of course though; learning the new lingo, your way around, actually having to introduce yourself to people and try and figure out what you have in common to create any kind of conversation. I say this all as though it’s negative but I’ve loved every moment of the adventure so far (a cliche I know but what can you do).

Eventually after extensive essential information lectures we began the real deal. The one thing I’ve noticed about LIPA is the sense that every course really is linked and working as a unit. A team so willing to aid each other in our both individual growth and our growth as a group over the next three years. Almost all our modules promote teamwork and involve the planning and/or running of events, this is a super exciting but foreign prospect for me, so although I’m nervous to be more or less diving into the deep end I can’t wait for the ball to begin rolling.

Coming to an establishment which has moulded such successful and creative people though does have it’s drawbacks. Through our lectures so far we’ve heard many a story of incredible individuals who have graduated and started their own companies, gone on to work for huge labels and organisations, even in some cases innovating the entertainment sector. Though these achievements are astonishing, there is this feeling of having to live up the incredibly high standards set by such obviously talented people. This of course is a daunting task, but a task that even in itself is motivating and exciting.

My first week at LIPA has taught me I do have a lot to learn and a long way to go but also that, y’know what? I can probably do it. The people surrounding me are such charismatic individuals and so as long as I make the most of the next three years I think it’s the perfect tool to help me get where I want to go.
